The tunnel under the old Sixth Street Viaduct, which provided access to the Los Angeles River, was closed in the summer of 2016 as the original bridge was demolished, and access to the riverbed was no longer possible. The new Sixth Street Viaduct, completed in 2022, features a new 12-acre park below the bridge with access to the LA River, but the old tunnel is gone.
